Expression without Words
Thursday, October 23, 2008

i've decided on my previous entry that pictures are the best tool to express myself. sometimes i find myself lost for words and pictures are the perfect replacement for it.

if only people would understand expression without the usage of words. yes, tears are an expression of grief, smile an expression of happiness but what about hope? what kind of expression would be appropriate to send the message across?

people often take things and people for granted and even when they are presented with an expression, i do wonder, do they get it? do they understand what is the other person tryin convey?

today, after class , i had tea wth my bro and this elderly man came and took our orders. somehow i felt pity for him, not because he was poorly dressed or anythin, he was pretty neat in fact , with hair combed to the side on his white mane and neatly dressed but his facial expression, like as though he was tryin to send a message across, but i couldnt figure out what it was . but those wrinkles and the facial expression on his face when he served us the drinks tells the story of hardships he went through in his life. it made me wonder, would i be sendin that kinda expression across when i'm old and grey?

If that was the point, then he hasn't been getting it for the last hour or so. Honestly, if you're going to hit snooze that many times on your alarm, you might as well just turn it off completely and wake up whenever your body decides it's time to wake up.

Re: your entry--

Some people are just completely clueless when it comes to interpreting any form of expression--whether verbal or non-verbal, written or conveyed through body language.

Some anthropologists argue that everything we do conveys a message about who we are at the core. Every article of clothing you wear, every piece of jewelry, every half-smile at an insensitive joke, every sharp exhale at a comment you find reprehensible. The sum of your behaviors and attitudes and material possessions is meant to clue people into who you are. Whether they pick up on that or not is their problem entirely.

not totally sure if this is the same, but what kind of facial expression of hope is made by someone? well the best way i can relate to that is at sporting events. the score tied in overtime next goal wins. every fan hoping and praying for thier team to win. they hope for it so bad it brings some to tears. once again i'm not really sure if we're on the same page here but that's how i can see people express hope.
